ICU Blues

Our biggest concern today, in addition to Eric's weight (he hasn't gained any), his appetite (he's still not eating a lot), his strength (he's still so weak) and his on-going though tolerable shortness of breath, is Eric's state of mind. It's not surprising that he's depressed, who wouldn't be? He's been in the same room, looking at the same walls, away from his home, his own room and bed, his brother, his friends, school, soccer, quiz bowl, band, church, everything he loves, for over a month now. I'm not saying he hasn't made progress. Certainly, he has. It's just hard for us, being here every day, and especially hard for Eric, to see the small changes because it's happening so slowly. We all need patience. Eric's still too weak to entertain many visitors, but he does enjoy a few regulars. His math teacher and soccer coach come and give him encouraging pep talks. And he did request a good friend to come visit later today. Please pray for Eric to have the physical as well as mental fortitude he needs to get through this, to recover and heal, and to return to some sense of normalcy.

We are sending hunger vibes your way. I wish Jake could give you some of his. He has packed on 15 pounds in the months that he has been home. I just know that every day will make you a little stronger. Hang in there, buddy!

God love him, Angie. I'm excited to learn that he is off the vent and on the slow road to recovery. I continue to pray, though I can't get to a computer with internet often. We're in Houston again for Ron to begin radiation. Things don't look good on this end.

Tell Eric I do so love him. Tell Andrew to hang in there as well.

We're in Texas. Funeral for baby nephew tomorrow morning. I sent the prayer request for Eric's state of mind and appetite to my Trinity prayer warriors this morning. I know Eric will be feeling hunger pangs/pains soon, and that you'll see that light in his eyes on a daily basis. Like Nona said... a slow road to recovery but thank God he's on it.
See you next week. Sending love and prayers to you and yours.

Hi Angie, My name is Nicole. My son, Devan is in band with Eric. From what Devan tells me Eric and his brother are supposed to be in our room with us for the Spring band trip. We are praying for a speedy recovery, so he can make the trip. We would love for him to be able to go with us. God Bless Nicole
