Lung Leaks

Tuesday afternoon's experiment to turn off the suction to the chest tubes in order to seal the holes in his lungs worked for a time, but over the next 24 hours, Eric's pneumothoraxes, the air in the spaces around the lungs, enlarged and caused Eric to become increasingly short of breath by yesterday afternoon. They turned the suction back on to rid that air and reinflate the lungs, and Eric's very comfortable now. The respiratory therapist discontinued the nitric oxide last evening. And I'm guessing they'll furthur wean the ventilator today. But we still have the issue of what to do with these persistent lung leaks. I'm sensing they're thinking surgery may be the only way. We're getting so close to Eric being extubated again. Will surgery keep him on the vent another week? Will surgery solve this problem? We're praying for physician wisdom.

Oh my goodness, Angie. Another surgery? I'm praying God will give the doctors wisdom. And you and Bob too.

Lord, watch over Eric, touch his lungs, heal him, Father. We're still expecting and believing in Your miracle for his life. Amen.

Angie,

We are praying for God to show the doctors exactly what Eric needs to be healed and for God to give Eric strength. Thanks for updating your blog, it helps me to know what to pray for specifically. Take care, tell Eric hello from the Bullards.

Father your word says that where two or more agree on earth as touching anything it shall be done. I set myself in agreement with Eric, his parents, his family and the many prayer warriors who are lifting him to you for wisdom for the doctors. Father we thank you for moving through their minds and hands to quicken Eric's healing and complete recovery. In Jesus name I pray.

Glad you're at TCH, hope no surgery is forthcoming. I'm most impressed with the changes in his PCO2,

I'll be in Houston next on April 6. I'll call.

Prayerfully,

Nona
