Sunshine

PT/OT took Eric on a field trip today . . . OUTSIDE! We sat outside for a good 45 minutes, feeling the sun on our cheeks and the breeze in our hair, for Eric, the first time in ten weeks. What could be more therapeutic? Look at that smile!

Eric and I are fairing well, just the two of us. Last night, we stayed up late playing Scrabble. We almost finished, and it was pretty much a tie, when around 11:00, Eric declared it was bedtime. He's slept well for the past two nights! Praise God for that. And he was awesome with PT/OT today. He walked a great distance (that's relative, of course, maybe 125 feet) in both AM and PM sessions.

I'm so glad Eric and you were able to go outside and enjoy nature. What a way to draw nearer to God. I have two aunts who would give you a run for your money at Scrabble. Great to see the big smile and thumbs up from Eric. To walk 125' after being immobile for so long, what an achievement. God is good and at work with Eric's healing. Miss you and hope your time in Houston will not be too much longer but what is best for Eric is what matters.

Love, bev

Hey Eric--you, sun-lover, you--don't forget the sunblock next time you're out on the town, and it won't be long 'til that happens! I'm so glad you got a taste of spring, altho they're predicting rain/snow mix here in the Burgh tomorrow. Yuk! Angie, this is such a great photo, all of these wonderful bits of encouraging progress have got to be so spirit-lifting as you move through these next weeks of therapy. A thought for Eric's comfort, if he has to spend prolonged periods in a wheelchair--they make cushioned pads just for this purpose to alleviate pressure on the rear end and lower back. Ask PT to prescribe one if they think it might help. In the meantime, may God's warmth and love continue to shine on all of you as you continue these wonderful steps in healing. Blessings, Willa

THUMBS UP, INDEED!!! Being outside is good for all of us. Eric looks great. Scrabble, my all time favorite board game. And, I'm quite good at it.

Looks like OT/PT are doing a great job with Eric.

You'll be home before you know it.

Continued prayers.
