Backyard Hummingbirds

I love hummingbirds. I have a feeder on my backporch and I could watch them for hours, if I had that kind of time. Here's a little poem I wrote about them. Photos compliments of MDH.

Hummingbird Dance

Buzz by
Flutter, flit
Squeak, peep, sip.

Seek, spy
Chatter, chase
Dive, dash, dip.

Dart, fly
Hover, hum
Zoom, vroom, zip.

We had planned to attend the Lake Charles Community Band's weekly outdoor concert this evening. Eric and maybe Andrew too had planned on participating. But it rained this evening. After weeks of no rain (until last evening) it decides to rain tonight. Can't complain though. We certainly need rain. And the showers cooled it off to a pleasant 77 degrees.

Some of you may have noticed that I didn't post a blog last night. There's a reason for that. I had nothing to say!! Which is a good thing. With Eric improving, and we've settled into a summer routine, there's just not a lot to talk about. From here on out, I'm planning on posting only when I have something even remotely interesting to say. So don't worry. No news is good news.

We will miss reading your blog every evening. But we rejoice that Eric is getting better. That is what we have all been praying for since February. God bless.

I am so glad you feeel life is back to its previous routine and not a crisis or adventure every day. We'll all miss Eric's daily trips to Sonic. Maybe he can post occasionally so we'll know he is eating and gaining. What a trip the family has had since Feb.

love to all, bev

Awww shucks, I wanted to hear more about the LC airport! Good to know that things are getting back to normal. I hope that the summer hangs around for awhile for you guys and that you are able to take advantage of this time together for healing and FUN! Jenn

I'm glad things are relatively uneventful now. We are having some much-needed raine here too, and just hanging around the house this evening.

i love hummingbirds too. though I don't have any trees or places to hang a birdfeeder in my yard. My mom and grandmother have great hummingbird setups. Such a joy and relaxation to see their little wings flap feverishly as they enjoy their little treats. I loved your poem!
