Holding My Breath
Just a quick note to let you all know Eric had another good night. And that pesky PaCO2 that was 87 yesterday morning (40 is normal) . . . was 61 this morning. Halleluiah, we're heading in the right direction. Prayers have been answered. I'm cautious to be too optimistic. The night nurse assured me that, while he obviously is much better than he was, she doesn't think he's out of the woods yet and setbacks are common in ICU. Nonetheless, I'm feeling good this morning. Thank you for your prayers for Eric's continued healing and strength, both physically and mentally/spiritually. Now that he is no longer heavily sedated, he's rather anxious, agitated, restless, bored, and frustrated because communication is difficult, etc. Who wouldn't be?

Hopefully, prayerfully, one good day will lead to another and another and another. :) I'm so glad you're able to keep us posted. I love Walt for making it possible! I'm trying to think of what Eric can do to pass the time...
Books on tape? Songs? Listening to stories of when his mom and dad were kids... ?
Lord, heal him fast and strong before he gets TOO terribly restless.
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them." (Mark 11:24)
Yeah! I, too, am praying and waiting. I keep checking, so thanks for the update.
Angie,
There are many Playaways thru the library system...great books on an MP3 player. All you need are batteries. That might be helpful and with a wide variety, you might be able to find several different ones...
Oh, and how about watching a DVD on the laptop together? Or laughing at Youtube postings...we love doing that.
Hope that helps.
Kimberly
It's at these times that we often feel just how near God is to us. Encircling us with His love.
It's only with His strength that we don't all fall down under the burdens sometimes. May your family feel His peace today and may you see His hand in the staff that attends to Eric.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for Eric and you guys.
What great news. As far as keeping Ericfrom getting too bored and restless, I will ask Quentin to share some of his favorite Youtube videos. They seem to be entertained by a lot of the same things.
Angie,
We prayed for Eric today at our weekly bible study @ Fountain Park. Remember to take care of yourself so you can stay strong for him and for your family. Please know that you are in my daily prayers...

Thanks, Angie, for keeping everyone informed about Eric's condition. Like Jess, I kind of enjoy hearing that Eric is bored. A good sign, I think. One day at a time, my friend. One day at a time. How is Andrew?

Hi Angie and Bob,
You are thought of constantly here in Pittsburgh. Eric and your entire family are in my prayers. I pray that God keeps you close and that you can feel his presence at all times. I'm thrilled to see that Eric is improving.

This is a first for me... a blog entry. Thanks for keeping us posted! Tom and I are thinking of you all so much, and praying.
Tell Eric and Andrew that I remember :-)) watching them in the playground behind the church, while their Dad was in the Bicentennial play. We had fun pretending we were in Wizard of Oz. Tell Eric to breathe deeply or "I'll get you, my pretty!"(seeing the latest photo, i should say "my handsome"!!)
Next year the boys will have a blast celebrating Mardi Gras.
And to Eric we say "Just do it"! Hard work will pay off and God is with you!!! Love, Anne
